    End to BBC self-regulation recommended in report

    An independent report has recommended the BBC cease self-regulation and scrap the BBC Trust, turning power over to Ofcom. According to The Guardian, the Clementi report calls for "fundamental reform" of the broadcasting corporation.

    Research grant regulation change is "attempt to muzzle scientists"

    New regulations could prevent state-funded researchers from speaking out against government policies. Under Cabinet Office proposals, scientists whose work is funded by the government would have a clause inserted into their grant agreements stating that they must not lobby for changes to laws or regulations.
