At the Wearable Technology Show, an expert panel came together to discuss wearables in the workplace.
They gave 7 considerations businesses should bear in mind when implementing wearable tech:
- IT systems – who owns them and the governance of Wi-Fi?
- Generic vs. customizable – how will devices be tailored to their applications?
- Operating time – what are the implications of wearable maintenance?
- Environment – what mechanical aspects and ergonomic factors should be considered?
- KPIs and ROIs – how do you measure wearable tech output and how do they fit in with business processes?
- Failure of tech – is there a contingency plan?
- Travel cost and time – does the cost incurred using wearable tech outweigh not using it?
The panel urged the audience to view wearable technology for business as tools not toys.
