The British Standards Society (BSS) is the UK’s standards users’ network. Their annual workshop and AGM is happening on Thursday 13 July at 5PM at BSI in Chiswick, London.
As a BSI subscribing member and a standards user, you are invited to attend.
It’s a great opportunity for personal development, like learning how other business sectors handle standards and getting first-hand access to thinking and evidence on critical topics like AI and net zero.
Plus, there’ll be plenty of after event networking over refreshments where you can share experiences and feedback.
The workshop has several notable speakers:
The keynote will be delivered by Dr Alexander Trautrims who is Professor of Supply Chain Management at Nottingham University Business School and Associate Director at the University of Nottingham's Rights Lab's, leading its large Business and Economies Programme.
His subject is an important new standard: BS 25700: Organizational responses to modern slavery - Guidance. It’s a pioneering standard that gives organizations guidance on how to manage modern slavery risks in their operations, supply chains and wider operating environment.
Net Zero guidelines
Another speaker tackles another very important issue: net zero. Emily Faint, Net Zero Policy Manager at BSI, will be telling the story of the development and application of IWA 42 – Net Zero Guidelines. These guidelines enable and support all organizations from national governments, cities and multi-nationals to small family businesses, including governance organizations in developing policies, frameworks, standards or other initiatives on net zero for use by others.
Construction products
Matthew Sexton, Market Development and Technical Standards Director, BMI Group and BSS Member, will address The Morrell Review of the Construction Products Regime and its implications for standards.
AI and conformity assessment
Finally, addressing another very topical subject, Keith Wilson, Deputy-Chair BSS, will focus on AI and Conformity Assessment.
The BSS annual workshop held in conjunction with their AGM will be held on Thursday 13 July 2023 at BSI 389 Chiswick High Road starting at 5 pm.
The event is free to attend, but please do let BSS@bsigroup.com know if you will be coming so we have you confirmed as an attendee and better manage the catering of the event.
