If you’ve visited the BSI Shop recently, you will have noticed a change. If you haven’t, we think it’s worth pointing out.
BSI Shop has evolved into BSI Knowledge. Yes, it’s still the place to buy standards (and get your 50% discount if you’re a member), but BSI Knowledge is something more. It’s an easy, intuitive platform to access, manage and learn about our huge range of standards that can help you to meet your daily business challenges.
You’ll find the standards you need to solve your organization’s challenges, discover a wealth of best practice insights and improve your performance.
Here’s what you can expect.
The new way to work with standards
Whether learning and browsing, or purchasing and managing standards, it’s important to note that everything you did on BSI Shop, you will be able to do on BSI Knowledge.
In addition, BSI’s standards subscription service, BSOL (British Standards Online) is being migrated to BSI Knowledge. BSOL customers will benefit from new features and a modern user-friendly interface, while also being able to access the same standards documents they had as part of their BSOL subscription. BSOL Customers will be contacted separately with all information regarding the platform migration.
As we develop this new platform, your teams will continue to be able to buy, access their subscriptions, and manage BSI standards on the re-named platform.
Three major changes
As part of our efforts to give standards users more insight, more support, and more control, customers will notice three major changes when logging into BSI Knowledge:
1. Finding your standards has become quicker
BSI has a comprehensive catalogue of more than 100,000 standards, but finding the right one could previously be a daunting task. With the launch of BSI Knowledge, we’ve streamlined our advanced search filters, which means that finding the right standards is quicker and easier than ever.
For example, you can:
- Select multiple filters to locate a specific document
- Filter standards between ‘Current’, ‘Withdrawn’, and ‘All’ to find the most appropriate guidance for your needs
- Add multiple standards within a series to your basket with just one click
- Users with a subscription to BSI Knowledge can also easily browse BSI’s 100,000+ standards library, in addition to those standards they have in their subcription
2. Viewing your standards has got easier
It is now possible to view the contents of all your purchased standards quickly and conveniently via the new PDF Viewer. This is a significant change that removes the requirement for you to download our digital rights management FileOpen plugin to view the contents of your standard documents.
Although the File.Open tool is still required if you want to download or print your standard document, the tool is major step in making it simpler to and quicker to access best practice guidance at your convenience.
3. Managing your standards has become more flexible
Our new License Management function allows you to allocate your license to another user if you have purchased one or more of the same standard. This tool allows the right people to access relevant best practice guidance at the right time, helping embed organizational excellence from the word go.
What’s in store for BSI Knowledge?
BSI Knowledge already has a lot to offer, and there’s more to come. We’re continually developing and evolving the platform to ensure it remains beneficial, relevant and lets the user stay in control.
In the coming months, we’ll be adding more services and advanced features, such as training and service packs. These will help you get the most from your standards, adding value and simplifying implementation and adoption.
Put simply, our platform gives you greater control and freedom over the way you engage with standards, enabling you to embed a best-practice culture across your organisation more quickly and efficiently. Discover BSI Knowledge here.
Free expert standards team for BSI members
Of course, BSI Members will still be able to call on the information experts of the Knowledge Team for any questions about standards. For example, they can find out if a standard exists for a particular topic or area of work, discover if a standard exists elsewhere in the world, and let you know what a standard includes.
