The March 2022 highlights include:
Standards ensuring the long-term quality of copper plumbing fittings.
BS EN 1254-1:2021 Copper and copper alloys - Plumbing fittings - Part 1: Capillary fittings for soldering or brazing to copper tubes, and BS EN 1254-2:2021 Copper and copper alloys.
These are the first two in a nine-standard series that deals with plumbing fittings made from copper and copper alloys. The standards are intended to ensure that fittings have a longevity of up to 50 years and have the capacity to protect consumers and assure all concerned that fittings are of high quality. This in turn creates marketplace confidence, reduces trade barriers, manages risk more effectively, and increases the marketability of fittings that adhere to these specifications.
Water quality standards BS 8580-2:2022 & BS 7592:2022
Both these standards help duty holders, managers, and water safety group members increase their expertise on how microbial hazards spread, and help them prioritize actions and minimize risks.
To validate that you’re controlling legionellae in an effective, efficient and compliant way, you should now use BS 7592:2022. For information and support with prioritizing actions and minimizing the risks from PA and other waterborne pathogens, you should now use BS 8580-2:2022.
