BSI Standards AwardsNow's the time to applaud our standards superstars. Do you know of an organization that has excelled with its use of standards over the past year? Then why not showcase its success by nominating it for the 2022 BSI Standards Users Awards?

As a BSI Member committed to excellence in standards, it might well be you and your organization. Or perhaps you know someone who has demonstrated an exceptional contribution to the creation of standards. Like the Standards Users Awards, anyone can nominate an individual for recognition as a BSI Standard Maker Award.

What are the BSI Standards Users Awards?

Every year, we invite nominations that demonstrate how organizations have used one or more voluntary standards to achieve a particular outcome for a specific project, product or service.

The awards shine a light on the real-life stories behind the statistics: recent research estimated that a total of 23% of all UK GDP growth this century is attributable to the impact of standards, and 38% of all productivity growth.

Little wonder that 81% of firms of all sizes see standards as providing an ongoing boost to productivity, and firms in all sectors see significant increases in turnover.

This annual celebration highlights the way that businesses use voluntary standards in achieving goals as varied as boosting performance, making cost savings, and improving sustainability.

Everyone is welcome to make a nomination, either of your own organization or another that has impressed you. Entries are quick and simple to complete, and winners can expect prestige, publicity, and pride!

2021’s BSI Member winners

Last year’s awards proved just how varied the benefits of standards are, with each of the eight winners having a unique tale to tell.

One winner was a BSI Member: CAA International (CAAi). They used BS EN ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems to enhance their resilience and mitigate risks during the pandemic. They shifted their training online in 4-6 weeks, while retaining their impressive customer feedback rating, as we reported here.

Another winner was Formula E, also a BSI Member. They used BS ISO 20121 Event sustainability management systems to deliver their FIA World Championship series of electrically powered motor racing events.

Formula E’s Sustainability Director and BSI Member, Julia Pallé, said in our interview: “The standard enabled us to create and embed a culture of sustainability on an operational and leadership level. We’re not perfect, but we look at sustainability in everything we do, and consider the environmental impact, the social inclusivity, and the economic benefits we can create.”
