This month’s Update Standards magazine has all you need to know about new standards, revised ones, withdrawn ones, BS implementations of European standards, new standards started, and standards open to public comment, and more.
October’s highlights include:
BS EN ISO 13485:2016+A11:2021 Medical devices. Quality management systems.
Requirements for regulatory purposes sets our regulatory requirements for quality management systems for medical devices. The 2021 amendment adds annexes showing the relationship between clauses in the standard and the requirements of the new European medical devices and IVD medical devices regulations.
More perfect pavements
The BS 7533 series covering the use of clay, concrete and natural stone paving units in pavement design, construction, and maintenance is being re-structured. It will now be published in three parts, the first of which, BS 7533-101:2021 has just been published. The revision of BS 7533-101:2021 brings users a lot of cost-saving and risk management benefits and as a result will offer great improvement for construction organizations and the public.
Shedding light in the office
Every organization needs to ensure that they are working to best practice when it comes to workplace lighting. Providing efficient and effective good quality lighting in your indoor work environment contributes to higher work productivity and performance from your employees. Our new standard, BS EN 12464-1:2021 specifies requirements for lighting solutions for most indoor workplaces to help organizations achieve this.
Cyber safety on the road
As connected and autonomous vehicles continue to develop, their cyber security is clearly a growing issue. Therefore, to help safeguard road vehicles we’ve published: BS ISO/SAE 21434:2021 Road vehicles — Cybersecurity engineering. This is a first
international standard embedding cybersecurity in vehicle electronic and electrical (E/E) systems. It builds on and now replaces the recommended practice in SAE J3061.
