BSI was commissioned by HS2 to carry out research into the standards landscape for designing the infrastructure for a high speed railway. Our work with HS2 included the revision of existing British Standards and the development of four new PASs. The research identified a number of opportunities for improvements that will likely produce at least £500m in capital cost savings through the reduction of overly conservative design and the streamlining of compliance processes.
