The IoT Tech Expo 2017, held in London on 23-24 January, allowed attendees to explore the entire Internet of Things ecosystem. There were talks on the opportunities for development, innovation and investment for the UK’s most pioneering start-ups and SMEs as well as established organizations.
Four hot topics from the Expo:
- There was a focus on connected living and in turn the future of the connected home with two panels discussing platforms and hubs and what the connected home means in 2017.
- The future digitisation of heavy industry was a key theme along with the power of harnessing real time analysis to improve container, freight, fleet and supply chain management.
- The role of IoT in medical devices was discussed and furthermore the very topical issue of the role IoT can play in preventing attacks and hacks on the devices themselves.
- There was also a discussion on the fitness industry and, with the popularity of health Apps, how IoT can make a difference in the union of sport and technology.
The overriding theme was that in the coming years IoT will be prevalent in all areas of industry. Entrepreneurs are fuelling radical change, one talk was even about the future role of IoT in Space, and the innovation currently taking place will lead to changes and developments that will re-shape the way we live.
